Scootering with my dog Selah on the last day in April CLICK ON ANY IMAGE FOR A LARGER VIEW If you HAPPEN to be in San Diego, have a small dog, a doggie backpack and a scooter ... here's a great way to spend the day.   :) Bring your dog to Fiesta Island Dog Park. LOTS of off-leash run-around space. Sea World across the Bay We then drove to Liberty Station, formerly known as the Naval Training Center. It's now open to the public. Housing, grocery store, restaurants and lots of open park space.  This is my scootering route for the day. Starting off at Liberty Station and turn around at Seaport Village. About 10 miles total. Beautiful sights all along the way! Starting location at Liberty Station Turnaround point near Seaport Village Met these stilt-walkers at the starting spot A st...

Scootering with Selah

I love scootering and I love hanging out with my dog, so why not combine them both!? It was a beautiful, classic, Southern California, San Diego weather day. My scooter of choice on this excursion was my Razor A5 Air . It's nimble, reliable and has nice rough-road smoothing pneumatic tires.  Selah is a good dog. She's a 3 year old Chihuahua / Corgi mix. She's very smart and loyal. I'm her favorite human. This day, I got a breakfast burrito (a very California thing to do) and found an isolated, quiet spot on a large grass field in Balboa Park . Laying on my blanket, warm air, underneath the shade of a tree I felt the familiar drowsiness urging me to nod off for a few. At 11 pounds, Selah is tiny but mighty. She's VERY protective of our claimed "space". As I dozed, I rested easy knowing there is ...

Scootering With My Dog

I had SO MUCH fun on my scooter with my dog the other day. Sandy and Sean were off watching a Disc Golf tournament that I couldn't attend (I made a prior commitment at our church), so I had some discretionary time and chose to head to Mission Bay. There were actually 2 scooter - dog adventures: The Running and The Riding.  First the running: Above, you can see what Fiesta Island looks like. It's an "Island" for recreation in the middle of Mission Bay park but is connected to the mainland by a single road, so technically it's a peninsula. People come to the beach, bring their RVs, barbecue, kayak, jet ski, etc. The southwest side is dedicated as a HUGE off-leash dog park. It's fenced off from the rest of the island on the northeast corner of the dog park. Everything in the area indicated above is a massive off-leash playground for dogs.  Dogs can run free! Those dogs who love the water (mine is NOT one of them) can access the beach and the bay. Others romp thro...
